Final Project

Image
Yes, today's the day.  The final art project from my class.  The assignment is: Take what you've learned so far this semester and make a design.  So, I'll be using my Elephant Stamp from earlier in the blog as a starting point.  I could make a new stamp, but it's final's week and I'm trying to be realistic and kind to myself and my time.  Haha   The plan:  1.     A djust the coloring of the stamp using Photoshop  2.     A dd design fundamentals like line to make it more of an emblem or logo 3.     Vectorize the new design 4.     Find a product I want to add the design to, this means looking at different customizable product websites. 5.      Add the final image to a product like a coffee mug or something. Step one!  Take a picture of my stamp.  I'm looking at this and wondering to myself, how could this become a logo or an emblem?  I think that if ...

Pattern Project

Image
Check out my teacher's blog on this project here . For this project, we had to create a design and then turn it into a pattern.  I thought it would be cool to do a pattern within a pattern.   First, I came up with a color palette using this super helpful video .  It tells you how to whip up a palette in Procreate. Next came creating my design.   I work at a hospital in the emergency room and thought it would be fun to make a pattern for work. My first step here was to  sketch of a basic idea, which was a cardiac monitor that displayed the name of my work.  I started out with the monitor screen and the writing of the leads.  I then tried to add a syringe.  Next I thought it would be cool if a stethoscope were to lead into the display, so I added that, the rest of the monitor, and then a syringe drawing up some medicine.  I liked it but thought the spacing could be better.  I drew an idea where the stethoscope merges over ...

Following My Classmates' Tutorials

Image
This time around, I'm following two of my classmates' tutorials.   The first one is by Daisy.  Check out their tutorial here:  https://daisyprizo.blogspot.com/2025/10/mixed-media-tutorial-digital-art-and.html This was a project interesting.  I've never used any photo editing before.  I got a trial version of ibisPaint X to do this.  The mobile app I found was difficult to navigate, so I got the Windows version.  The Widows version was much easier to use because all the tools were readily displayed on the screen.   The second tutorial I followed belonged to my classmate Kailan.  Follow their tutorial here:  https://kailanleia.blogspot.com/2025/10/what-ive-learned-so-far-with-digital-art.html This was a cool lesson on blending in the same app, ibisPaint X.  This was coincidental but nice for me because I had just spent time in the app on the previous project learning the ins and outs.  I decided to make something ...

Time for MY tutorial

Image
Hello again, everyone!  Today I'm posting an assignment from my Art Class which is  to make a tutorial for my classmates.  Feel free to follow along, this one is easy but fun! Alright peeps, this time around it's MY tutorial.  Now, considering I'm still a baby artist, I wanted to pick something that I was confident in teaching that I also felt people could do themselves no matter what level they are at.  It also needed to be fun.  My partner is an educator and I also worked in education for multiple years.  I remembered this idea from an art teacher that had come to my classroom.  She used markers instead of water color paint.  I felt like this was something adults could apply and have fun with.  So, whether you are a beginner, an intermediate, or and expert I think you can follow along and apply this in your own way.          First things first.  Gather your supplies.  You will need: 1 piece of ...

Stamping to Digital

Image
Okay, so this assignment is from my Art Class.  The assignment is to draw an image, transfer the image to a stamp, shave out sections of the stamp, cut the stamp out, and then use the stamp.  After using the stamp, take a picture of the product and upload it into a photoshop like program - I actually used Photoshop itself since it's free at the library at my school - and make something out of it.  My teacher made an AI generated image with their stamp which I thought was fun.  I tried making my own composition and also generated an AI image.  If you want to see how my Professor did this, check out this link to their blog!  https://candacenicolgarlock.com/blog/http/wwwcandacegarlockcom-5  So, first step!  Draw your stamp.  Seems so EASY right?  NO.  I sat for a long time trying to decide what would make a good stamp.  I love Pokemon, I could do my favorite Pokemon Dragapult.  Nah, I wanted to make my own thing.  ...
